Severight declares that the photographed Zyklon B cans are “about as real as Anne Frank’s ballpoint pen.” The problem is that forensic examination established that Anne wrote her diary using fountain pen and pencil. The ballpoint markings seized upon by deniers were later annotations left among the papers—not diary entries written by Anne.
The Auschwitz Memorial also addresses Severight’s other implied claim directly. Zyklon B was used for disinfection at Auschwitz, but it was also used to murder people in the gas chambers. Pretending its legitimate delousing use proves that the mass killings never occurred is a standard Holocaust-denial trick, not a historical discovery.
Severight has therefore cracked Auschwitz using an imaginary pen, a recycled lie and “Oy vey” as peer review. Case closed—provided nobody checks her homework.
